1866 Signed Original Penned Poem by Mary D Dodge aka Gail Hamilton (pen name). The original penned poem is dated March 4, 1866 and contains beautifully written subject matter that she later became famous for in the suffrage era! It's written a folded in half 10" x 15" piece of vintage paper. There is some post-war overtones and mostly hope and sense of compassion and mercy will win out in the end. Please see the pics for the exact words written by Mary Dodge in this original piece of historic penned poetry.
Mary Abigail Dodge (March 31, 1833 – August 17, 1896) was an American writer and essayist, who wrote under the pseudonym Gail Hamilton. Her writing is noted for its wit and promotion of equality of education and occupation for women.
*Important historic note - this piece like several other personal pieces is not found in the "Gail Hamilton"s Life in Letters" book as it was as a personal offering under her real name Mary A. Dodge and signed as such.
