About the last thing you can expect to see when Herkimer Diamond mining is the discovery of a Quartz Scepter. Herkimer Diamonds almost never form a scepter. One could mine for the rest of their life every day and still never see a single Herkimer Scepter. When they are found they are called a Lollipop Scepter. There is always a black anthraxolite inclusion at the core. The stem is always black as a result of the included core. Treasure Mountain Mine is world famous for their Lollipop Scepters and is known to have produced the most finds. This specimen is from a different locality and doesn't appear to be a Lollipop Scepter. This is from the very unique deposit known as the Mud Flood Mine just outside Fonda, NY near Yost. Most all crystals at this site are broken from many many years ago and rehealed into unique formations. This piece looks more like a traditional Quartz Scepter. I have never seen a Scepter like this. No one has that Ive spoken with.
