CHINESE WATERCOLOR PAINTING ON SILK

The art of Chinese silk painting dates to the 3rd century B.C. After the silk is dyed to the background shade, sizing is applied to the surface to prepare it for painting. Chinese ink, made from lampblack, and color pigments made from a variety of vegetable and mineral sources are used. The use of organic pigments means the colors will last a long time without fading.

The style of painting is "Gong Bi Hua" which is characterized by meticulous brush work
